This is a slightly shorter version of the Phlebotomy course. This two week class is designed for individuals who would like to refresh their blood draw skills or if, phlebotomy licence lapsed.
Nurses, medical assistants, phlebotomists, patient care technicians, and other healthcare professionals are also a large part of the class.
There are lots of hands-on skills and live blood draws to meet the objectives of the class. We review medical abbreviations, terminology, preparation of equipment for blood withdrawal and how to correctly perform venipunctures on patients, knowledge of the safety factors, choice of a vein, choice of the device for blood withdrawal, preparation of the venipuncture site, preparation of the equipment, universal precautions for infection control and more.
Proof of at least 100 previous venipuncture via letter from employer and 25 successful venipuncture in class, will allow you to take the National Phlebotomy Exam.
